ceranimal (cera-animal)

continuation from http://sylaep.blogspot.com/2011/02/mysterious-animals.html where i posted my prep

okay so this was my second attempt at actually creating something and painting it and glazing it. first attempt at :http://sylaep.blogspot.com/2011/01/rewind-1.html
i dont know if i've ever mention it, but i like doing animal related stuff.  this was done in 2010, during the ceramics module. it was fun exploring with the medium. i remember the very first time doing ceramics in school is when mr lim was still here. it was a pinch pot. <okay i dk> its just 4 slabs of square joined together to make a box without a cover. and i added a mini dragon
haha okay this was some time ago.

so the 'hair' which was supposedly inspired by the lion, is made from garlic presser, i not sure what it's called. basically, you put a lump of clay inside the garlic presser and just press it and since their are holes in it, the clay will come out through the holes and tah dah!! (haha its like the hydrostatic force for ultrafiltration lol omg, exams are getting into me)  the base of the animal was made using coils and finger to blend the coils together so the body is actually hollow and neck is also hollow. the face is not hollow, if i remember correctly. the tail's not hollow too. and the designs were just drawn on using a sharp object. the stripes on the neck is from the zebra and  the drawing on the back is totally random. colours chosen are at random as well.

this artwork is a combination of different animals. (i just realise that its similar to my coursework haha!!)  the theme was nature so we could do anything related to nature, i remember almost everyone doing that module did on plants, i think i was the only one who did on animals? haha anyway thats my interest :}  like i said in the prep post, i'm quite satisfied with this work. and this little animal is still residing in school haha, i'm gonna bring it home one day....

edit: its back in my house!!! haha finally!
