i wanna keep this post short.
okay this is my 2010 eoy drawing and painting work. the title is after dark.
its a painting of an owl in flight. as it passes through the windows, it is painted in different colours, like a parrot. the windows show the night sky. i didnt want to paint it black because it will be too boring so i mixed dark blue and purple together.
this painting is about how people tend to have a public self and a private self. there are 2 ways to interpret this work.
here is a summarised interpretation.

1. as the owl passes by the window, it is exposed to its surrounding, the night sky. here the owl shows its public self. its a facade it puts on. this explains its colourful feathers. what you see if not really what you get. the owl's actual self is when its hidden from the night sky, behind the brick wall. that is when the owl is itself. its in its natural state.

2. as the owl passes by the window, it becomes colourful, just like a parrot. this is the side of the owl that it doesnt allow others to see. its what the owl truly is. the brown owl that we normally know is actually a facade it puts on.

so depending on how you wanna view the painting, the interpretation changes but overall, the idea is still the same.
