ITS OVERRRRRRRR

HOORAY EXAMS ARE OVER!!!!!
all that's left is chi o lvl!!!

here's my first new post after EOYs!
made a mini sculpture from plaster, the bandage kind where you can easily get from artfriend.
its really easy to use. just wet it and stick to your mould or whatever.

its a ball sculpture. haha, and you are suppose to hang it :}
i used a styrofoam ball, available from artfriends as well. wrap it with clingwrap and stuck the bandage on. then build it to about 2/3 layers? so its sturdy (its DAMN sturdy when it dries!) did half the sphere, so its 2 halves. so its easier to work, and all i have to do is join the 2 halves when im done.

so the concept is roughly about spheres and contrasts. half the sphere has loads of things sticking out and the other half has concave areas. half has colour, other half is painted with dull colours.

okay this is basically the half with loads of things protruding. no significant meaning, its suppose to represent nature so its all organic and stuff. leaves, vines, corals, whatever you can associate them with. they are more colourful than the other side but the most colourful areas are the tip. the base is mainly greyish tones.

this is half half, so you can roughly see the contrast already. oh and there's the fishing string attached. bent a wire so it forms like a circle and a cross in the center, like the drawing of a lightbulb for physics. then tied the string to the cross such that the cross will be right below the hold. i think you get the idea?

so one half is coloruful, the other is duller in colour

this is the other half. and those are the concave areas. there are holes in this side. the texture is rough and it sort of resembles the moon or some sort of planet with craters. its dull, lifeless except for the colourful straws in the hole.

you know, for the colourful sides there are holes cut out (can refer to the first pic) then if you look through these holes you can see the back of the straws. its rather interesting . you can also see the raw plaster, some are fraying out because i used a penknife to cut the holes and the plasters sort of came off but its still fine :}

basically its like the lifeless dull colours are seeping into the colourful half and its eating into the colours. that explains why the base of the colourful half is of greyish tones, similar to the planet looking side and only the tips are colourful. its like nature is being overpowered by something cold and lifeless, like some frost or winter storm or something haha

yeap so thats the idea. forgot to take the dimensions. well its like.. the width of the ball is like slightly smaller than the width (shorter part) of the A4 paper.
